Vocalist Serjio Diaz is a fresh new face with a great big voice, and a heart to match.
"I guess I've always been a songbird, as they say. Ever since I was really little," Serjio said. "For a long time, I pretty much thought everybody could sing, but then I started realizing I had a gift and that maybe I had some potential."
Gabriel Manzo heard that potential immediately.
"I was almost to the point where I thought it was impossible to find the right singer for this group. I knew what we needed, but finding it was another thing all together," Gabriel recalls. "Then one day, I decided to check some classifieds on the internet, and there was Serjio. He was doing rock with an alternative edge, and he had a great voice, with the right personna to blend in with MANZO. He came down for an audition and fit in right away, harmonies and all."
Serjio remembers, "being in choir all through school, there were times the harmonies just gave me goosebumps, like, man, I just love harmony so much. I'd been in a few bands doing some R&B and Hip-Hop, and then changed up to an alternative rock band. But more than anything I really had a love of harmonies and I couldn't seem to find people that were into that like I am. Truthfully, I was almost ready to give up."
Then he got a call from Gabriel Manzo.
"I felt a connection with Gabriel right away,"
Serjio said. "I was just blown away that someone like him would consider me. I mean, wow, I just couldn't believe it! Plus, I never really thought about doing something with a Latin flavor, you know? But when I think about it, this band hits up my roots. A good friend told me, "It fits you,"
and I guess it does. I just feel so blessed and honored to work with such high-caliber musicians. And man, they can sing, too!" Serjio laughs. "It's still unreal to me, like it hasn't totally sunk in yet. But I'm really happy, and looking forward to helping make this a success."
